January 20, 1940 - April 11, 2024

In loving memory ~

George was born in Trail BC on January 20, 1940 where he grew up and received all his education including 4.5 years to become a machinist at Cominco. He met Barb Negus in April 1964 and after a whirlwind romance cemented by a shared love for country music they married in November of the same year. Eric was born in December 1965 and we moved to Blueberry Creek in '66 where George worked at Celgar. In 1968 Lynn was born and she completed our family.

In 1971 we moved to Kelowna where George worked as a machinist at Hiram Walker Distillery in Winfield. After 8 years in the big city we were missing the Kootenays and Grand Forks called us closer to home with a job opportunity at Bradford Enercon where he worked for many years. He eventually retired from Canpar.

Throughout the years George enjoyed many past-times including skiing as a young man, hunting, fishing, camping , bowling, tinkering in his shop crafting and creating many different things. Having a beer or two around the campfire with friends, telling stories was most special. George was an easy going friendly guy who made friends easily and kept them for life. Always willing and able to fix, fabricate or build from scratch if anyone needed help. Those who knew George admired him.

He loved his family so much in his own quiet way. He will be deeply missed by family and friends. Survived by Barb, his love for 59 years, his son Eric (Isabelle) Lynn (Pieter) and 5 beautiful grand kids, Jesse, Amy, Erin, Jacob and Rachel, his brother Richard (Sandra) and sister Lorna and many nieces and nephews as well as his brother in law Ray and sisters in law Carol and Alice. He is also missed by his little buddy, Charlie.

A heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses and care aides for their compassion and care of George during his final days at Boundary Hospital where he died peacefully.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
